Troop 3/1003 started out their holiday season quite early with Scouting for Food. Scouts in Troop 3/1003 collected 496lbs of food that was then donated to the Louisa Food Pantry! This is a tradition that our troop likes to participate in every year because not only is it giving back to the community that gives us so much help, but it’s a great way to show the philanthropic side of Scouting.
After scouting for Food, we started a whirlwind season of Christmas Tree sales! Troop 3/1003 participated in the annual Christmas tree sale held annually by our council. All proceeds directly benefit the troop and our camp. Many nights were spent at the tree lot selling Christmas trees and wreaths and spending time together with scout friends. We successfully sold all our trees and thank the community for their continued support!
After the Christmas tree lot was closed, we had a Ugly Sweater/White Elephant Gift Exchange party at the Scout Hut! Jacob won the contest again this year, with Scoutmaster Amberleigh coming in a close second.
On December 18th, Troop 3 assisted with placing wreaths at Culpeper Cemetery for Wreaths Across America. This is the 5th years that troop 3 has participated in Wreaths Across America. We take great pride in honoring the veterans that have fought and died for our country and are honored to have the opportunity to participate in this ceremony.
