Meet Katie Slegar, the Committee Chair for Troop 3 & Troop 1003.
Katie has been a member of Troop 3 since 2019
Q: Katie, what is your background with scouting?
“My son started with scouts in 1st grade, and I sat back, letting my husband and son have all the fun for years. Finally a position was needed for me with his Pack (Cub Scouts) and I stepped in to be a Lion leader.
“I have remained an active leader with Cub Scouts as my son grew in scouting. So now I love to proclaim that I am a Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Cub Scout!”
Q: What about your family?
“I have a son, who is now an Eagle Scout with Troop 3, a daughter that is a Girl Scout, competitive dancer and a proud “theater nerd”.
I am happily married and have two Sheltie Puppies that keep me very busy-both the dogs and my husband.”
Q: When it comes to training, what are a few of the trainings you have received during your time Scouts?
“I am currently trained in both Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leadership. I love staying on top of current information and staying in tune with the needs of the Scouts.”
Q: What are your favorite things about Scouting?
“I LOVE the excitement that the scouts have for each event and meeting. The energy that they show rejuvenates my love for the program and what it provides for each member. The friendships that I have made while a leader were a very unexpected and wonderful addition to this journey.”
Q: What do you do outside of Scouting?
“Outside of scouting I am a professional child taxi and short order cook. Keeping my families’ busy schedule moving is a full time job in itself, but I also work for a beautiful company that allows me to work from home. I am an organizer and planner and that is the case in both my professional and personal worlds.”
